Thanks everyone, for all of the wonderful comments.

@Beth - Thanks for the link to your gingerbread houses.

@Beverly Dawkins - Thank you for your cinnamon ornament recipe.

Tanda and I each have a few ornaments from our childhoods. We started the tradition of giving an ornament to each of our children while they were growing up. Many of these were handmade, which I think are the best kind. Now our grandchildren enjoy special ornaments each year.

What a great variety of ideas! I'm still a mom with young kids- and these ideas are great for me too. I especially liked the shrinky dink idea. I recently found some at a craft store and my kids had a blast doing it, but this site shares how to do it from recycled plastic-- even better!

I'll be revisiting this page later this week as Grandpa and I are heading back to Colorado to spend Christmas with 3 of our grand kids!
Here's an activity I want to try with them, too, that you may find useful on your site. I found this on another site yesterday.
Take a cheap container of cinnamon and pour into a bowl. Add applesauce to thicken. After thickened and dried, use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Take a straw to punch a hole through the top. Use colored yarn through hole for hanging on tree. Take Elmer's Glue and add colorful glitter to the ornaments.
The lady I got this from said her ornaments still smell fresh cinnamon, still, after 5 years!
I can't wait to spend the week with my grand kids!
Best wishes your way!
